Welcome to Smashed Flat. By accessing or playing Smashed Flat, you agree to these Terms of Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. We ask for your date of birth when you register to verify this and to apply age-appropriate default settings (such as our profanity filter); providing a false date of birth is a violation of these Terms.
2. Accounts
You must create an account to access certain features. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. We may use automated tools, such as Google reCAPTCHA, to help verify you are not a bot when you register or log in - see our Privacy Policy for details.
3. In-Game Chat & Messaging
Smashed Flat includes chat and messaging features. You agree not to harass, threaten, abuse, or post illegal or harmful content. See Section 7 for the full list of prohibited conduct. We reserve the right to monitor, moderate, store, and review chat messages to enforce rules, maintain safety, and comply with legal obligations. You have no expectation of privacy in in-game communications.
4. Friends, Blocking & Reporting
The Service includes tools to manage your experience with other players, including sending and accepting friend requests, blocking another player, and controlling who can message or friend-request you through your account settings. You may also report a player, message, or other content that you believe violates these Terms. A report (and anything you attach to it, such as a screenshot) is reviewed by our staff and is handled under our Privacy Policy. Submitting a report you know to be false, or using the reporting, blocking, or friend system to harass another player, is prohibited.
5. Payments & Virtual Items
We may offer paid features or virtual items. All purchases are final unless otherwise required by law. Virtual items have no real-world monetary value. Payments are handled by third-party processors.
6. User Content
"User Content" includes anything you submit to the Service - chat and direct messages, your profile information (such as your "about me" text, gender, and badge selections), and anything you attach to a support ticket or report (such as screenshots). You retain ownership of your User Content, but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, display, and moderate it for operating the Service.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You may not: cheat, exploit bugs or glitches, or attack the Service; create or use multiple accounts to evade a ban, suspension, or other restriction ("ban evasion" or "alt accounts"), or otherwise circumvent a block, ban, or the Service's link/content filters; harass, threaten, abuse, or discriminate against other players - including on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics - whether in chat, your profile, a report, or anywhere else on the Service; reveal private or identifying information about another person (such as their real name, address, school, workplace, or photos) without their consent ("doxxing"); ask for, share, or trade account passwords or login details with anyone, including staff; spam - repeat the same post, type nonsense, or split a single message across many posts; troll - post inflammatory, insincere, or provocative messages to provoke emotional reactions or disrupt the community; request or share material you do not own the copyright to, or do not have permission to share; discuss, depict, promote, solicit, or take part in abuse, sexual conduct, harassment, stalking, or breaking the law; trade, sell, or buy in-game currency or items for real-world money, cryptocurrency, gift cards, or physical items (trading for digital goods or services, such as artwork or personal tasks, is allowed when it is arranged and done within the site); or violate any applicable laws or the rights of others.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations or legal reasons.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Smashed Flat is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
12. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remain in full effect.
13. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Chat Moderation Disclaimer, make up the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use means acceptance.
